To Do:
1. Feed me. (treats!)
My first day late with a song. It's summer. Gosh. So, finally we have a close-enough guess from listener jChristopherF who suggested "takes me back to my youth mini-white keyboard with the chiclet keys...". jChris, you are the lucky winner of a P Bear Box Set! The theme for July is (drumroll...) retro electronic sounds and motifs. Specifically late 70's and 80's era drum machine and synth sounds. I thought it was pretty obvious, but I can see how if you've never spent any time around these archaic instruments it might be hard to identify the sounds. Most of them are new to me. So, specifically, what I'm using are samples from 'classic' drum machines like the Roland 808, TR-909, Roland CR-78, Korg SR-120, and others that were typically housed in wood boxes to match hammond, wurlitzer and yamaha organs. The vintage synths include names like Prophet, Moog, Yamaha DX7, Roland 60, Jupiter 8, and others. These were used by everybody from Duran Duran to Run DMC. Milepost songs of the era include Herbie Hancock's "Rockit", Run DMC's "Sucka MC's", or on the new wave tip OMD's "Enola Gay", and Kraftwerks' "Tour de France". I'll include some pics of these bad boys. Now then. Similar to a while back when I did the songs for Homage Fromage (odes to popular artists I like), the songs for this month are not intended to be 100% retro. I'm shooting for like 50 to 60% retro. The P Bear stamp will likely shine through. For now, I give you a tune which (in the beginning) recalls a popular new-wave synth riff for a classic movie. Name that movie!

Yep, "Axel F." by Harold Faltermeyer.
Elizabeth is the lucky winner! That one was easy. You win a P Bear t-shirt! (hit me with the info at podingtonbear(at)gmail.com.)
The title to this track (sic) nods to Fletch , which also has a sweet 80's soundtrack.

Hum dee,
I just take it a day at a time. I think the guessing stuff is fun, so probably.
